Small ends are double drilled to enhance lubrication and cooling to the wrist pin bearing, a critical feature for pistons with crowns positioned close to the wrist pin bearing. The connecting rods are shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and smoothly blend the rod forging's radiuses, while double honing ensures an ultra-round bearing surface for maximum reliability.
